Justin TImberlake as Sean Paker in The Social Network

2010 July 18

As I wrote on this blog a couple of weeks ago, a movie about the beginning of Facebook is hitting the theaters in October. The movie is based on the bestselling book – “The Accidental Billionaires” by Ben Mezrich, which I after seeing the first trailer went ahead and read – you can read my thoughts about the book on our company blog here.

NOW – there is a new trailer out, and one of the smaller things in the movie I am looking forward to in the movie is seeing Silicon Valley bad boy Sean Paker portrayed by non other than of cause the all American mummy’s boy – Justin Timberlake!

Do you think the resemblance is striking?

If you are not famliar with who Sean Paker – the guy Justin Timberlake is portraying,  here is a short sum-up, taken from Crunchbase:

Sean Parker is a serial entrepreneur and a managing partner at the Founders Fund. As one of the two founders of Napster, Sean helped architect and manage the peer-to-peer file sharing application to become one of the largest on the net.

Parker subsequently helped found and manage Plaxo, a VC-backed contact management application company. More recently, Parker worked as the Founding President of Facebook before moving on to join up with Peter Thiel at The Founders Fund, a seed-stage venture capital firm. Parker also recently led the move to launch Causes, a new developer application that organizes individuals’ charitable giving on Facebook.

A person I can find portrayed on the films cast is Peter Theil – and who should have played him? Maybe a younger version of Michael Douglas, no offence to Michael Douglas age.

Besides what you can read below – Peter Theil where the one Mark Zuckerberg had to convince to invest $500.000 as seed capital in Facebook at the most critical time for the at that point fragile company – and luckily he did, so we have a Facebook today.

Peter is Clarium Capital’s President and the Chairman of the firm’s investment committee, which oversees the firm’s research, investment, and trading strategies. He is also a managing partner at The Founders Fund. Before starting Clarium, Peter served as Chairman and CEO of PayPal, an Internet company he co-founded in December 1998 and was acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion in October 2002. Prior to founding PayPal, Peter ran Thiel Capital Management , the predecessor to Clarium, which started with $1 million under management in 1996.

See new trailer for the film and please let me now what you think about it – are you going to see it – or could you care less?
